WAC Basin Plan Submission to Members of the Australian Parliament (19 February 2013). The 256 page Basin Plan was signed into law by Minister Burke as a Legislative Instrument under the Water Act 2007 on 22nd November 2012. The content of the original Proposed Basin Plan released in November 2011 has been substantially changed. The Australian Parliament is not allowed to amend the Basin Plan. Both houses of Parliament have 15 sitting days to move a Disallowance Motion to disallow the Basin Plan and vote. The disallowance period for the BP expires during the early part of 2013 at different times for each house of Parliament.
WAC's Open Letter and submission to all members of the Australian Parliament is an eleventh hour call to move and support a Disallowance Motion against the Basin Plan. WAC's submission consists of three volumes; WAC-D-010-1 Basin Plan - Executive Summary (Volume 1, 33 pages), WAC-D-010-2 Basin Plan - Detailed Review (Volume 2, 113 pages) and WAC-D-010-3 Basin Plan -Supporting Evidence (Volume 3, 53 pages). Basin Plan - Detailed Review Issue 2.0 was updated to align with the November 2012 Basin Plan . A Key Findings Summary (16 pages) was added and this may be downloaded as an extract.
WAC Submission to MDBA - Proposed Basin Plan (16/4/12): The Proposed Basin Plan was released by the Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) in November 2011.
